Art Drop // William Eggleston at David Zwirner Hong Kong
American photographer William Eggleston @egglestonartfoundation has his first debut solo presentation in Greater China at @davidzwirner Hong Kong until 10 October 2020. Born in 1939, Eggleston's distinctive pictorial style transforms the everyday into poetic images. As a pioneer of colour photography, his understanding of colour, line and composition has elevated the medium, making him widely known for increasing photography's legitimacy as an art form. This particular exhibition focuses on medium and large format works from the 1970s. He displays his unique ability to capture the quality of surfaces and light. Whether it be the bright metal of a gas pump or the decaying wood of an abandoned shack, Eggleston's photography remains as evocative and poignant today in 2020 as it did 50 years ago.
